Gregory Garoffolo, 60, of Westport, was identified as the person found around 840 a.m., Thursday, May 9, by a Westport resident in the area of 132 Beachside Ave., who reported the incident to Westport police, said Westport Police Lt. Jillian Cabana.
According to investigators, Garoffolo’s vehicle had been located on the I-95 Saugatuck River overpass during the early morning hours of Saturday, May 4 and was subsequently towed by the Connecticut State Police.
According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, he sustained injuries consistent with a fall and drowning, she said.
Garoffolo’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
